Last week, Snowman and I posted our first glimpse into the world of Alto’s Adventure with our debut teaser trailer – it may be short, aiming only to set the scene at this early stage, but it packs in plenty of clues about how you’ll be spending your time on the mountainside. Keep your eyes peeled for our dynamic weather & lighting in action as well as few moments of actual gameplay!

The entire trailer has been captured in realtime from Unity using a series of predefined camera moves and scripted gameplay triggers. One of the unexpected challenges of trying to ‘stage’ action like this, in a game designed largely around random variations and chance encounters, was simply getting the desired results across multiple takes!

A huge shout out goes to the guys at Frosthaus for their beautifully elegant app Sequence, which has allowed me to effortlessly stitch together a huge number of captured image sequences into high quality Apple ProRes video ready for editing, though I’d pay good money to see the app updated to allow GIF exports!

In case you’re wondering, this isn’t the only video I’ve been busy capturing – there’s much more to come, so stay tuned!
