I recently produced a series of illustrated patterns for local design studio, peppered sprout. The patterns needed to be non-age specific and use a set colour scheme (blue/black/white). I was also asked to produce a pirate/princess character illustration that would work along side the pattern while appealing to a younger audience.

The final patterns (with developments):

I also spent some time developing the following image for a bit of fun:

I recently had a great time working alongside Unfold Design on a new website for TV presenter Vicki Butler-Henderson (of Top Gear fame). Using Unfold’s excellent designs I was asked to construct a site that Vicki could update and maintain by herself – making this the perfect opportunity for me to expand and develop my PHP content management system (CMS). By getting involved in some more complex programming I really began to remember why I used to enjoy maths so much at school – it has to be one of the most creative and rewarding languages you can learn – anyone who tells you otherwise obviously hasn’t ever tried PHP!

Thankfully, Unfold and Vicki were really pleased with the results and I now have a fully functioning CMS to bring to future projects!

Here are a few screen shots of the finished site and admin area:

vis/res (visual resonance) is the name of a new up-and-coming zine which aims to showcase emerging talent in graphic design and illustration. I had the pleasure of coding a small introductory web page, which can be found here – so stay tuned for updates as well as new blog which will run in parallel to the publication.

I was asked to submit an illustration as a contribution for the first issue. So, I put on my thinking hat, and came up the following piece entitled ‘fools rush in’ -

b2

The first issue is set to have a red/blue colour scheme to help keep things unified, so I also produced this version:
